Welcome to Suicidal Pedophiles!

Suicidal Pedophiles, or SuiPed, is an organization lobbying for (1) persons with a diagnosis of pedophilia or pedophilic disorder, (2) people who have been assessed as being at high risk of sexual offending, and (3) persons who have been convicted of sex crimes against minors, to be legally allowed to kill themselves by means of barbiturates administered by suicide clinics, and/or by other methods of their choice.

Frequently asked questions[edit]

Why should pedophiles and sex offenders against children be allowed to kill themselves?[edit]

Most of society either believes that pedophiles and sex offenders are a serious threat against children, or is unwilling to openly dissent from the viewpoint that they are a serious danger. Whether they're right or wrong, the fact that they have that belief contributes to making life miserable for these individuals, and prevents them from fitting into society once their pedophilic tendencies are known to the public. Their ability to lead a life that is of much use to themselves, or others, ends up being severely hampered.

Many pedophiles and pedophile allies have sought to legalize adult-child sex, and have found that they can make no headway, because they get banned from just about every forum, online or offline, where they attempt to put forth those views. Generally speaking, the public is not interested in listening to their arguments, which makes any merit there may be to those arguments somewhat irrelevant.

Virtuous Pedophiles, a support group for those who struggle with feelings of attraction to children, because of the loneliness it brings to their lives, is also viewed with suspicion, derision, and disgust by non-pedophiles. While some pedophiles may find some benefit from anonymously belonging to such groups, some may tired of remaining in the toy box their whole lives.

Pedophiles who kill themselves legally will be able to make their reasons known, because they will have no need to fear being forcibly stopped, as is the case now, under laws that say that those who represent a danger to themselves can be civilly committed. There will be opportunities to attempt to survey and otherwise study them before they die to learn more about them. This can help scientists learn more about pedophiles, or at least those pedophiles who are inclined to kill themselves. At the very least, we will have a better idea of how many pedophiles are killing themselves. This will also provide us with details on the actual age ranges from the population of pedophiles who are suicidal, which could also be used to compare against other censuses of similar type and be able to determine just how many pedophiles there are in a more accurate way.

Pedophiles' organs can also be harvested for transplantation if they die in a suicide clinic, as well as their body being alternatively used for researches.

How are risk assessments of potential sex offenders done?[edit]

Psychologists can identify a number of static and dynamic risk factors influencing a person's risk of committing a sexual offense. See, for example, a Static-99R coding form.

Why can't, or won't, pedophiles and sex offenders against children simply kill themselves with the means already available to them?[edit]

The failure rate of attempted suicides is fairly high. According to the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, suicide attempts overall result in a 14.1 percent fatality rate for males and 3.1 percent rate for females.

These failures can be costly to the individual and to society. according to the CDC, in 2013, 494,169 people were treated in emergency departments for self-inflicted injuries. Nonfatal, self-inflicted injuries (including hospitalized and emergency department treated and released) resulted in an estimated $10.4 billion in combined medical and work loss costs.

A fatal dose of pentobarbital following the taking of an antiemetic is a relatively reliable and peaceful method. However, other methods, such as ED-209-style assisted suicide machines, could also be made available to those who prefer a different method, such as a firing squad.

Why don't pedophiles simply stay in the toy box? Is a don't-ask-don't-tell policy so bad?[edit]

Some people don't like having to live a life of dishonesty about who they really are. Also, don't-ask-don't-tell doesn't solve their problem of having to choose between celibacy or breaking the law, given their age of attraction.

Is pedophilia a mental disorder? Or could the psychiatrists someday vote it out of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, similarly to what happened with homosexuality?[edit]

Disorders get voted into and out of the DSM all the time, as psychiatrists' conceptions about mental health and mental disorders change, so anything is possible. It's been pointed out that whatever understanding we eventually gain of the brain will not map to the disorders currently listed in the DSM. There is some controversy about whether pedophilia, or pedophilic disorder, should be considered a mental illness, but the politicians and judges will likely defer to whatever is the current consensus of the psychiatrists.

Meanwhile, the general public will call it a mental illness whenever they want to stigmatize pedophiles, and call it evil whenever they want to punish pedophiles. Whether one wants pedophiles to die because they're sick, evil, or simply suffering and living a pointless existence, the end result is the same, so we need not necessarily figure out how exactly to pigeonhole them. It's not like anyone cares to listen to thinking that diverges far from the mainstream on that point anyway. We've already gone a long distance down the road of anti-intellectualism when it comes to the topic of pedophilia, so maybe we should see where it leads us, if we take it to its conclusion.

What if psychiatrists oppose pedophiles' killing themselves?[edit]

We have to keep in mind that, just like people say that pedophiles have a conflict of interests when they wish to discuss public policy, psychiatrists also have somewhat of a conflict of interest. Forensic psychiatrists, for example, get paid by the state to perform risk assessments and keep sex offenders under supervision and treatment. That business may dry up as more pedophiles kill themselves.

However, psychiatrists will generally say that pedophiles, and those with a history of sexual offending against children, have an elevated risk of offending, relative to the general public. (They have to say this, or they could not get all that lucrative business from ongoing supervision and treatment; besides, it might be true, although it is hard to tell, since not every offender gets caught.)

In a democracy, everyone has a conflict of interest, in that they may have a personal interest in the issues they're voting on that conflicts with the interests of society as a whole. Ultimately, the politicians are going to yield to whatever the largest and best-organized interest groups want. That could be psychiatrists, but not necessarily. A populist movement can defeat the intellectuals.

Would suicidal people be screened to ensure that only pedophiles and sex offenders against minors are able to use these clinics?[edit]

SuiPed takes no stance on whether non-pedophiles should be allowed to commit suicide. However, there are tests, such as the penile plethysmograph, that some mental health workers use to help distinguish between pedophiles and non-pedophiles.

Is it possible that allowing certain sex offenders to commit suicide could actually increase the rate of those sex offenses by suicidal people seeking access to suicide clinics?[edit]

Given that all one would need to do, to gain access to the clinics, is get convicted of a child pornography offense, that could indeed be a loophole. Therefore, if it is desired to exclude such people from the clinics, the law should be written to deny them access if the judge finds that their sex offense was motivated by a desire for said access.

Given that attraction to minors 14 years or older falls outside the definition of pedophilia, should those who have committed sex crimes against those older minors still be allowed to commit suicide?[edit]

Federal law does not always make a distinction between older and younger minors. For example, 18 U.S.C. § 2256, which defines child pornography, states that a minor is any person under the age of eighteen years. 18 U.S.C. § 3583, authorizing lifetime terms of supervised release, speaks of crimes "involving a minor victim" rather than differentiating between younger and older minors.

The suicide law may as well parallel the criminal law.

Why not execute pedophiles and sex offenders against minors?[edit]

SuiPed takes no stance on that proposed policy change, but notes that it would unconstitutional in the U.S. according to the Kennedy v. Louisiana Supreme Court decision, so there would have to be a reversal of that decision, or a constitutional amendment.

Executions would make the suicide issue moot. The downside, politically, is that there is strong opposition to capital punishment, even of the worst offenders. However, it would at least avoid the problem that mental health workers will probably oppose any move to consider suicide by a healthy person as a rational decision.

Could SuiPed's proposals be a slippery slope to allowing other groups to commit suicide?[edit]

Perhaps, but SuiPed takes no stance on whether that would be desirable.

Could giving pedophiles the right to kill themselves be a slippery slope to giving them other rights as well?[edit]

Perhaps, but there may not be a lot of pedophiles left for very long, once they're given the right to kill themselves. In a democratic society, a relatively small demographic is not in a good position to advance a political agenda.

On the other hand, if pedophiles are allowed to kill themselves, but don't take advantage of this right in large numbers, then the legalized pedophile suicide law could always be repealed, putting us back where we started. It could be enacted as an experiment with a sunset clause, so that after, say, five years, it expires unless renewed.

How do we know that this organization won't become yet another NAMBLA-style hangout for pedophiles seeking to network with each other?[edit]

Once our agenda is achieved, we will disband and it will be a moot issue, especially since a lot of the former members will probably end up killing themselves. If it is a concern to you, then you should support implementing our ideas as expeditiously as possible. Not everyone in this organization will likely be a pedophile, by the way; there will probably be some allies as well.

If pedophiles kill themselves, will that make martyrs of them?[edit]

A person is only a martyr if others consider him such. Adolf Hitler could be considered a martyr for Nazism, but most people don't think of martyrdom when they think of Hitler.

Although Alan Turing is widely regarded today as a national treasure lost to a needless persecution of homosexuals, people do not look at Daniel Carleton Gajdusek and John Mark Felton in a similar way.

Why is SuiPed's agenda limited to one issue?[edit]

The people SuiPed is trying to help kill themselves only need reform in this one area, since their deaths will make all other political issues irrelevant for them.

Have any politicians endorsed SuiPed's agenda?[edit]

Nathan Larson, independent candidate in Virginia's 31st House of Delegates district, has signed on in support of SuiPed's goals.

Do you have a forum?[edit]

Yes, it is at https://www.forum.suiped.org/
